Just a quick update--
Mikey was in the ER last night due to a choking problem he has been experiencing. Craig has had the exact same problem over the years, and it seems the apple has not fallen far from the tree. For the past few weeks Michael has been having episodes of choking on food-the food actually gets stuck in the esphogus, and has to be brought up. It is very uncomfortable and scary, and he finally had an episode that he could not clear on his own, and it landed in the emergency room. He received a shot of muscle relaxant for the throat, and after a few minutes the food finally went down. It had been stuck for hours. I will be calling the gastro doc today for a follow up appt and treatment for him. As you can imagine, this whole situation is complicated by the fact that those top three teeth are very loose, and need to be guarded carefully. MIkey will need an endoscopy for sure, to start. That is not too gentle on the teeth, to say the least. Obviously, Mikey is concerned about the ramifications of yet another medical situation, and the Marines. He already has food restrictions due to food allergies, and now he has to eat mush (which he should have been eating anyway, because of his teeth). The 18 year old is not thrilled--at ALL. We are hoping to get him in to the doctor immediately.
Please keep him in your prayers...
