Where the wind comes sweeping down the plains...

We are in Oklahoma City tonight...after a looooong day of driving! The landscape changed a lot between yesterday and today..dramatically! Tennessee was absolutley beautiful--so green and lush, and the Smoky Mountains are beautiful!

Today's "the road less traveled" stop was at Loretta Lynn's Dude Ranch.

This was no small thing either--it was surprisingly big, offering museums, a replica of her family home from Butcher Holler, her plantation home, RV camp and cabins, horse trails, shops, arena, race track, and even a post office! It was such a beautiful area, with a pond, a rustic bridge, even a replica of a coal mine.

Craig and I have chosen to eat Subway for lunch, the whole way across the country..it is fast food, but much better than most everything else..so, around noon each day, we say SUBWAY, EAT FRESH--we pull over, and split a 5 dollar foot long Spicy Italian! YUMMM

Although last night we ate at a finer restaurant, tonight we gladly pulled into a Cracker Barrrel, and got ourselves some comfort food! I drove the last 7 hours or so...we left the hills of Tennessee, drove through Arkansas, and landed in the much flatter Oklahoma City.

It was a long day! My dad and stepmom met up with us at the hotel around 9:30. We were able to chat a while, and will have breakfast with them in the morning. Tomorrow we will head to Albuquerque, and hopefully have a bit less driving to do. Mary's car is driving fine, thankfully! Mary and Chris will be at their brand new apartment tomorrow morning bright and early. This is all so fun!!!

p.s. Craig wanted me to post this:
