Monday we hung out with Christopher. Mary had to work, so we went downtown to visit her at work (Fleet Feet), and to get fitted for some shoes! She said my running shoes were fine, but got me some great inserts that are really helping me with foot pain. She also fitted me for some orthopedic flip flops. They look like regular flips, but are so supportive. The we took her to lunch at the cafe, and we had some yummy coconut mango smoothies. Christopher had a huge final to study for, so we were low key for the rest of the day. We grilled out for dinner, and just enjoyed being together.
Tuesday we headed towards San Francisco, where Christopher dropped us at the BART (BAY AREA RAPID TRANSIT), and he headed to Hayward to take his exam at school (Life Chiropractic). Craig, Mary and I rode the Bart to the San Francisco port area.
This was quite a challenge to my new inserts--my feet were killing me for a while, but it takes weeks to get used to them, so I tried to stick with it. The city is exciting! The trolley cars look so fun. We stayed on the waterfront area, so we were not in the heart of the city. The pace is definitely not as fast as NYC, even though it is bustling. It's like everyone is busy, but in a slower motion. The palm trees are a constant reminder that this is NOT the Jersey Shore, but the smell, the sound of the gulls and foghorns--make it seem somehow familiar.
We walked out on the pier and got such a beautiful view of the bay, the boats, the seagulls, the Bay bridge...so nice! The fog is amazing! It is a living breathing entity! We couldn't even see the Golden Gate Bridge...but it was not that far away!
We took a leisurely stroll along the waterfront , ending at Pier 39. Christopher met us there, and we spent the rest of the afternoon browsing the shops, watching some street performances, and having a dinner overlooking the bay and the sea lions (Mary and I love the sea lions).
This is the view from where we were eating...
Food art..hmm, I wonder who did this...
And us, ona napkin..hmm, I wonder who did THIS?
And, here comes the FOOOOOGGG
The view was spectacular...A City on a hill(s)
We headed home very tired, and very happy. We spent the evening packing and getting ready for Yosemite--the big BIG adventure!!!
