I feel as if, right now anyway, it was only days ago that I was posting about Katy LEAVING for Uganda. Now, here I am, posting about her homecoming! In the middle parts, I was unbearably lonely for her. Knowing she was there serving the Lord was my only comfort really....she is so dear to me! BUT, here she is, on the brink of her journey home! She is in Kampala this week, winding down, seeing old friends (from Uganda Christian University), and trying madly to Skype. The internet connection isn't great, but we have gotten to see her sweet face a few times, and she has seen and heard us! She will need our prayers and support as she heads back here, after so long there. She heads back to school the morning after her return, and Christopher and Mary want to go help her get settled. They leave for Cali two days later, so they need to spend as much time with her as they can. Then, Paige and I are heading to Wayne, PA, to be with her on her 20th birthday--her and her friends...I think we will take her to the Cheesecake Factory! Paige and I will stay overnight in a hotel, and then bring the girl home after her classes on Friday. Saturday night we are having an Open House for her, here at home...rain or shine...we are asking that people bring a covered dish of something that is NOT Ugandan food! I fear she is going to get stomach ache eating American food, at first anyway. Also, I am sure it will be overwhelmed to her to see all the large quantity of food and food choices, knowing that her beloved Ugandans are dying of starvation.
That will definitely be a hard adjustment. She will need all of us to help her
through. Please pray for her safety as she travels home. The travel is looooooong! She has requested that we bring the dog, and a salad, in the car, to the airport! I would assume she would also require Beatles music on the Ipod, and all her family and friends to greet her there! God is good, and so gracious to this girl...we are SO grateful!
