My Whole30 Journey-the first 5 days

Well, here I am on Day 5 of my Whole30 journey--and I am doing pretty well!  I wanted to keep a journal of my progress, so here it goes:
To review:  I deal with IBS, GERD, Fibromyalgia, vertigo, faintness., low blood sugar, high blood pressure, thyroid replacement issues, food allergies, eczema, and Neurifibromatosis type 1.   Oh, and at least 50 extra pounds, but this is about health, and weight loss is the sidebar.  The IBS and body pain from Fibromylagia are my chief complaints, and these are what I am hoping to address through this eating plan, by removing all the inflammatory foods, and allowing my gut to heal.  Anything else is a giant bonus!
Craig deals with GERD, arthritis in his lower back, and some extra weight.  His comments on the way he feels are, "I am feeling good.  My gut feeling is that the extra protein intake is overriding my carb craving. I am not having my normal mid afternoon crash.  I am not really missing anything right now."
As far as my experience so far, I am doing surprisingly well.  I am missing a few things:  cream in my coffee and cheese, the worst of which is the cream in the coffee.  But, I would not even call those cravings.   Just wishes :-)
A few things to mention (forgive my frankness, and any graphic descriptions here..skip ahead if you do not want to read my body function mentions lol)  I have such a struggle with the IBS, and it pretty much controls my early mornings.  Also, I have pain, nausea, discomfort, pressure, bloating--most of the time.  For the last five days, I have not.  I seriously have not.  I had a weird kind of hunger sensations going on fairly often in the first two days, mostly in the evenings.  I know that is all part of withdrawal though.  I have had bouts of tiredness hit me in the evenings, twice, but I really was just plain tired.  It might have been some withdrawal.  Days 6 and 7 are supposed to be super tired days.  If that happens, no biggie, because I am home, no work. My pain levels have not been that bad. I had super bad (M) cramps yesterday, and took Advil, which was on the no no list (causes gut inflammation).  But that was just twice.  Tonight, we took our dinners to our annual business meeting at church, and I had an allergic reaction to something.  I have no idea what that would be.  Nothing that I haven;t already been eating for days, so that is a little baffling.  I got red splotches on my chin and neck, and my tongue feels raw--a few hives on my chest.  Overall, I am doing well!
I feel like my love for the kitchen, and cooking, is reawakening.  I feel like there is such an important purpose for each meal, and I have to admit, I had lost that for a while. I had lost my joy of cooking.  Some of that is not having all the kids to cook for, and a little sadness over that had seeped into my kitchen. I had let it steal some of my joy.  So this new found goal for finding healthy clean recipes, is so great!  My Pinterest boards are bursting at the seams! It is exciting and thrilling to find interesting ways to fill our menus and lunchboxes with food that help to make us better than we were!  I am definitely going to continue making my own condiments, which I had been thinking about for years!  Grilling season has arrived just in time!  I am inspired!
A quick overview of meals:  Smoothies and veggie omelettes for breakfast, lunch is chicken salad, or turkey and veggies, dinner has been an assortment of dishes:  beef stew, shepherd's pie, meatballs and veggies, etc.  Craig is enjoying all the meat, but I feel a little too full of meat :-)  NO complaints about the food though--all of it is fresh and herbed and spiced and delicious.
So, it is onward and upward!  I will check back in on my one week!
