Onward and Upward....

It is February, 2011!  It has been so long since I blogged, so I thought I would bring this thing up to date!
Katy graduated from Eastern University in December!
The holidays came, and they went.  It is always nice to have the kids home and around, but we all missed Christopher and Mary. Looking back now, I can see how sad I really was over the holidays. There just isn't a replacement for the missing loved ones. I had a wonderful time with everyone, but I really miss our Cali kids so much. We were able to Skype with them Christmas morning, so that was great.  Mostly, I felt there was a gaping hole. I will be glad when this feeling eases up.
So, to overview:  Thanksgiving was wonderful!  We had our traditional celebration across the street, which is a wonderful tradition.  This year we had Michael and Nicole, and Nicholas and Shayna with us.  They alternate between families for the holidays every year, which I so appreciate!  Kate is our constant at this point, which I love! With adult kids, you just never know how long that will last!  So, I am soaking in every minute.

Skyping on Thanksgiving with Chris and Mary

Someone is missing some teeth!
Kate graduated from Eastern on December 11th, and what an amazing day that was!

We celebrated with a family dinner out at the restaurant of her choice-Graziano's in Point Pleasant, and the cheesecake for dessert.  Martha, her roomie, was able to share the evening with us!.

Christmas arrived in a flurry of.....SNOW!  We had a lovely and quiet Christmas morning with Mikey and Kate, and Grandma.

We got to Skype with Chris and Mary again!

Mike and Lydia and Bridg and Isaac came Christmas night to hang out.

December 26th -27th was the storm of the century in Ocean County, NJ!  33 inches here in Brick, NJ!

Nick and Shayna got snowed in with us, and it was so much fun!  Board games, puzzles, excitement...cozy times with the family!  Mikey got snowed in over at Nicole's, which ended up being very helpful to them.  He was able to dig out their cars etc. and help them out.  There was so much snow that it was technically impossible to pick him up until the 3rd day.  He had to trudge through many feet of snow, to the main road, where we could finally pick him up!  Crazy weather!  This began a trend...snowstorms every week! We dodged a few by driving down to NC for New Year's Day with Mom and the family--although, they had just had a huge storm the week before themselves!

December 31st was the very first New Year's Eve that we were not with any of our children.  It was so bittersweet!  It threw me into a bit of a funk.  It is so weird to be in this place of having all adult kids who do not reallyneed me any more.  Not in the same way as they did, anyway.  I am not sure how I feel about all of it yet.  I assume I will get used to it in time.  Like everything else, this is a season...
So, to bring it to current:  January went by with snowstorms every week, pretty much.  Craig celebrated his 49th birthday on January 27th!  WOW~!  We celebrated with a little family party.
And now here it is, not quite mid-February.  Although the groundhog says we are having an early Spring, I am not sure I believe him!  I think there are still a few big storms waiting in the wings!
